Saturday, we had a family road trip to Coon Rapids, IA for our nephew Zach's high school graduation party. We enjoyed lunch at Cheesecake Factory at Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines (another favorite) on the way there. What that really means is that it took us one hour from the time we got to Jordan Creek Mall to unload after diaper changes and feeding Kamryn and Kason, we then went to the mall food court got Kaelen a kid's meal from Wendy's while Jeff and I ate Cheesecake Factory To Go. A little different than how it used to be three years ago but it still works! It was nice to see my brother Kent and his family since we do not see them that often living on the other side of the state. That should change a little now though as Zach will be attending The University of Iowa this fall (following in my footsteps) and our nephew Taylor has a summer engineering internship starting in Muscatine next week. Since we do not really cook, we plan on taking Taylor out to eat a lot this summer. Kaelen enjoyed playing with Velvet the beagle dog at the graduation party. Saturday night we stayed back in Des Moines. We came home Sunday early afternoon after swimming in the hotel pool and a nice, easy 13 mile run for me (tapering for the marathon).
Kason has discovered clapping now and really gets a kick out of it. Kamryn's hair is at the stage where it sticks straight up now- we absolutely love it. Kaelen has learned that Daddy has a name- Jeff and Mommy has a name- Kandice. She is very intrigued by that. Kaelen is also aware of everything going on now and does not miss anything- especially when I try to sneak M&M's out of the freezer! Yes, she has busted me several times- so I gladly share with her.
