Been a week or so since we have posted so here is an update. Three out of five of us (myself included) have been battling colds and are finally starting to feel better. Our goal for this coming week is for no one to have to go to the doctor! Kaelen does go back to the ear doctor to get her tubes checked but this doesn't count.
Last weekend, Stephanie and Jason Klein visited and met Kamryn and Kason for the first time. I used to work with Stephanie at Allsteel before they moved to Cedar Rapids. It was great to catch up with them. Stephanie brought us some awesome peanut butter cookies she made and Kaelen enjoyed doing flips with Jason. The rest of the weekend was pretty low key.
Last night, Jeff and I enjoyed a much needed night out. We went to the Brad Paisley concert in Moline. It was a great concert! Many thanks to Shane and Katie- who kept Kamryn, Bob and Bonnie- who kept Kason, and Jeff's parent's for keeping Kaelen overnight. It was a late night for us- we got back to Muscatine around midnight and to bed at 1 AM. Kamryn and Kason were up at 5 AM to eat. But since Kaelen stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's, we were about to go back to sleep for another 4 hours. So, for the first time since the twins were born, Jeff and I got 8 hours of sleep. I think my body was in shock today!
Happy Birthday Zane! Our nephew Zane turned 17 yesterday. He was born when I was a freshman in college- 17 years ago. Wow- makes me feel old! (Jodi and Beth- wouldn't you agree that it doesn't seem like it has been that long since we all lived on fourth floor Slater)
Tomorrow we will go to Zane's b-day party and then watch the Superbowl. Will be cheering for Arizona. (No way I can cheer for any AFC team other than the Patriots) Also, I like to believe that at one point in time, Kurt Warner helped my mom and I with groceries at the Hy-Vee in Cedar Falls since that is where he worked. Maybe, maybe not, but Jeff and I did go see him in a parade in Cedar Falls in June 2000. We sat in the pouring rain with my parent's and Jeff's mom waiting for him to pass by.
The babies continue to grow and develop their personalities. Kason is so relaxed and easy going. He smiles all the time. Kamryn is our talker and continues to be the drama queen. At times, she talks for ten minutes straight. We think Kason understands what she is saying. We also love the age that Kaelen is at- 2-1/2. She has really developed a great sense of humor and loves to do things to make us laugh. She has taken her big sister role to the next level. She now reads to the babies. The other night after supper, she pulled out her step stool, sat down, and read the babies her 5 little ladybugs book. It was so sweet! Also, she has always been calling the babies brother and sister. However, she informed us the other night that brother was now Kason and that is what he is to be called from here on out. Kaelen is also enjoying watching Thomas the Tank Engine. So we get a little relief from always watching Dora in the DVD player in the van.
